(UPDATED) All 16 players who participated in the tryout for the women's national volleyball team late last month were included in the national team pool released by the country's volleyball federation on Wednesday.
The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) identified 16 players to the national team pool, which will then be submitted to the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.
However, they plan to add at least four more players to the pool, who will be identified by incoming Brazilian head coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito upon his arrival, in coordination with coach Odjie Mamon.
The national team pool is as follows:

3. Faith Nisperos (Ateneo)
4. Ivy Lacsina (NU)
5. Mhicaela Belen (NU)

Only 16 of the 40 players invited by the PNVF attended the tryouts in Subic last April 28, with high profile players such as Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Kim Fajardo, and Dawn Macandili all begging off, mainly over health and safety concerns.
According to PNVF President Ramon "Tats" Suzara, all players who missed the tryouts remain in consideration for the last four to six slots in the national team pool. Souza de Brito and Mamon will base their selections on previous competitions as well as the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) tournament.
"We would like to complete the 20, it might be 21, it might be 22, depending on the missing positions, like setter, opposite, and outside hitter," Suzara said.
"We definitely need another setter and another libero because the current ones we have on the lineup are both young. So we need a veteran libero to beef up the team. Outside hitter we have only three, so we need two or three more," added Mamon.
The national team pool is expected to start training soon, as the PNVF plans to compete in the upcoming AVC Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship that they hope to host in Clark, Pampanga this August.
This will also serve as a build-up to the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi this November.
