A Time For Heroes: The Star Studded Independence Day Musical TV Special

A two-in-a-half-hour star-studded musical TV special was held at the Araneta Coliseum on June 12, 2008, at 7 p.m., exactly 10 years after the country celebrated the centennial of independence and six months after the 24th Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. It was televised on NBN-4 on June 29 from 9:15 to 11:45 p.m.


The musical TV special was hosted by Paolo Abrera, Paolo Bediones, Anne Curtis, Ruffa Gutierrez, and Judy Ann Santos and directed by Al Quinn.


Performers are A.S.A.P. hosts Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Luis Manzano, Gary Valenciano, Roderick Paulate and S.O.P. hosts Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Regine Velasquez and Jaya, winners, runner-ups and finalists of reality shows from 2003 to 2007, led by Star for A Night grand champion Sarah Geronimo and runner-up Mark Bautista, Search for a Star winner Rachelle Anne Go, Star in a Million winner Erik Santos, StarStruck 1 finalists Mark Herras, Jennylyn Mercado, Rainier Castillo and Yasmien Kurdi, Born Diva champion Raki Vega, Pinoy Big Brother big winners Nene Tamayo, Keanna Reeves, Kim Chiu, Bea Saw, Ruben Gonzaga and Ejay Falcon, Philippine Idol winner Mau Marcelo and Pinoy Dream Academy grand star dreamer Yeng Constantino.
