'She's the glue that holds us together': Toni celebrates mom Pinty on Mother's Day

Toni Gonzaga interviewed her mother Pinty for her Mother’s Day vlog entry, which she uploaded on her YouTube channel on Sunday.

In the video, Toni asked her mom about the biggest lesson she learned from her own mother that she applied while raising her and her sister Alex.

“Nakuha ko sa mother ko yung mahilig maglinis and mag-ayos sa bahay without forcing the kids. Kaya kayo, hindi ko naman kayo tinuruan pero nagulat ako kasi marunong kayo maghugas ng pinggan, marunong sila maglaba,” she said.

Proud of how her daughters grew up, Pinty added: “Every time nasa office ako, kapag nawalan kami ng maid, marunong sila. Elementary kayo noon. Ang mother ko, very resourceful, madiskarte. Siguro ganun ang mga babae, mas madiskarte siguro tayo kasi tayo lahat yung umiintindi sa bahay.”

Pinty, however, noted that it is Alex who has inherited the trait of being more resourceful between her two children.

“Kasi [itong si Alex], linis ito ng linis. Galing ng taping, 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. [makakauwi], kapag may nakitang may mga konting [dumi], nagva-vacuum ng madaling araw. Kahit may bisita yung ganun,” she said.

Nonetheless, the Gonzaga matriarch mentioned that it is her daughter Toni who took after her when it comes to handling money and managing finances.

Towards the latter part of the video, Toni made her mother teary-eyed when she described her as a parent.

“The best trait ng mommy ko for me is number one, selfless. Never niyang inisip yung sarili niya. Lagi niyang iniisip yung ibang tao, mga church mate, mga pastor, mga ka-choir members, constituent ng daddy, mga kapatid niya,” Toni began.

“[Number two and three best trait ni mommy ay she is the] strongest and most forgiving. Yung mommy ko, may gawin ka sa kanya today, maya-maya nakalimutan na niya yun,” she added.

Last but not the least, Toni paid tribute to her mother saying she is the reason why we are strong as a family.

“She is the glue that holds us together,” she said.

Matteo greets mom Glenna, mother-in-law Divine on Mother's Day

Matteo Guidicelli greeted his mom, as well as the mother of his wife Sarah Geronimo a Happy Mother's Day.

On Instagram on Saturday, the actor shared a clip of himself cooking pasta, saying even the simple gesture of preparing a meal already make moms feel special on Mother’s Day.

“It’s not always easy to find the right way to express our feelings, but sometimes, a simple gesture like preparing a plate of pasta can truly become the best one,” he wrote.

“Happy Mother’s Day to my mama Glenna and mommy Divine,” he added.

The apparent rift between Geronimo’s parents and Guidicelli, following the couple’s clandestine wedding ceremony in February last year marred by an altercation, has supposedly yet to heal.

The nuptial ceremony was reportedly kept secret even from Geronimo’s parents, amid speculation that they disapprove of Guidicelli.

Guidicelli has been vocal of his dream of having both his and Geronimo’s families together. Prior to their wedding, Guidicelli had been hoping for “acceptance”. And after tying the knot, he has been counting on “healing.”

Last March, Geronimo shared the first public indication of having open communication lines with Divine, when she promoted her mother’s business through social media.

Sam Pinto, Anthony Semerad reveal gender, name of baby

Newlyweds Sam Pinto and Anthony Semerad are having a little girl.

The couple announced the gender of their baby in Pinto’s most recent vlog, where they talked about how they felt upon finding out about the pregnancy.

“Ako, super mixed emotions kasi after the wedding, we were planning to have a baby maybe two years later pa because we want to enjoy. Happy and scared at the same time,” Pinto said.

Sharing how they broke the news to their respective families, Semerad said: “My family is in Australia so we did a Zoom call to them when we announced the news. They were all so excited.”

Pinto admitted she was nervous when she first told her mom.

“When I took the pregnancy test, I had to take it siguro mga three times. And then I was super crying because again nga, mixed emotions. Your life is going to change kasi. I called my mom, crying. I never call my mom. Super sometimes lang, video call pa. We are not that type of family na we talk all the time because I see them all the time,” she said.

“So when I call, a video call, sometimes it’s like, ‘Why is she calling?’ Pinakita ko yung tatlong pregnancy test and they were all positive. She was so happy. I was so scared. I had no idea what she would say or how she would react. But she was so happy,” she added.

Towards the latter part of the video, the two also revealed they decided to name their daughter Mia Aya Semerad.

“Because we really love the ocean, Mia [means] queen of the ocean so it’s the perfect name. Aya is a very lucky name,” Semerad explained.

Currently 23 weeks pregnant, Pinto is due to give birth in August.

After nearly three years of being in a relationship, Pinto and Semerad got engaged in November 2019, and got married last March.

PBA: Fajardo might play limited minutes in his return, says SMB coach

Dennis Gasgonia, ABS-CBN News

June Mar Fajardo is set to suit up for the San Miguel Beermen once the PBA returns with the All-Filipino Cup tournament possibly this June.

However, San Miguel coach Leo Austria said they might be forced to hold Fajardo down for a bit to prevent further injury. This means Fajardo might play limited minutes to make sure he fully recovers from his gruesome shin injury.

"I think at the start kailangan talagang pag-aralan namin," said Austria in an interview on Nolie Eala's Power & Play.

"From time to time, mino-monitor naman namin yung practice niya kung allowed na siya ng full game."

The reigning five-time PBA MVP sustained a complete fracture on his right shin during a team practice in February 2020, forcing him to miss the rest of the 2020 Philippine Cup.

He went through two surgeries and a grueling rehabilitation phase before getting to hold a basketball again.

As of now, the Cebuano works on strengthening his leg and is joining his fellow teammates in their regular zoom workouts.

But Austria admitted that it will take a bit of time an patience to get Fajardo back to his deadly form.

"In the first few games, yung ang period of adjustment sa kanya. But knowing June Mar, it's easy for him," he said.
